… and you get always surprised by this island, by the ocean and the weather. Since I woke up early due to the 11 hour time difference to Germany I thought I go and capture Maui’s magic. I remembered that last year I did a hike which leads to the shore. It’s a steep hike down to the ocean and the path is hard to see because not too many people go there. Anyway, get up at 4.30am, get ready, pack the camera equipment and most importantly- a flash light. After an hour drive I arrived at the location and I had to hurry up in order to get down before sunrise. I’m so happy that Maui does not really have any dangerous animals- especially spiders- since I was busy to find the path with my flash light, a lot of the spider webs and there owners ended up in my face. But I made it down to the shore and the shore break was still huge although the big swell from the day before, which also made Peahi break (see next post in two days), was getting smaller.
Now I had to check, which frame I want to choose and time was running down since it already got bright. Walking on the huge and slippery rocks and boulders didn’t make it easy, but I found a good spot. Although some of the bigger waves gave me and my equipment a salt water splash I got some good images…
